Default iSCSI Initiator - external iSCSI Storage

    Hi,
may I connect my DSS V6 system to an external iSCSI Storage and use this storage to create Logical volumes for traditional NAS Access (CIFS).
if yes, which is the best iSCSI configuration I can adopt?

    Hi,

You can use the external iSCSI Storage without any problems
Use the initiator from DSS (DSS webgui -> SETUP-> iSCSI Initiator) to connect to the iSCSI Storage.
Then you can create a new LV using that storage.

Just do not save your SWAP files on the External storage, else everything will be fine. as the open-e system SWAP files work as memory (related to the memory), so if you remove the External, and the system did not find the SWAP it may get crashed.

In another words, we do not suggest our users to install DSSv6 on the External storage, while using the external to save data, files etc, there is no issue about that.

Creating SWAP on external devices is blocked so no need to wory
