DSS to DSS6 upgrade

Hi all,

I'm trying to do an upgrade from DSS (Version: 5.0up63.7101.4562 64bit) to DSS6 (6.0up65.8101.5217 64bit). The problem is that booting DSS6 I restore the configuration and setup backup from the DSS reboot the DSS6 and not of the setting seem to be there, for example my isci targets are not there, the FC tagets are not there and my Nas shares are not there. The volume groups and logical drive are all there and reverting bac to DSS everything is OK, what am I missing ?

Did you save your settings from the DSS V5 - try going in the GUI in the DSS V5 in Maint. > Misc. and take all options to download the settings.cnf file then boot the DSS V6 and upload the settings.cnf then restart the DSS V6.

Thanks for the quick reply, I went into Maintenance/Misc. and checked both setup and configuration and download it to my PC, this is what I resored to my DSS6.

So when you did the restore from the settings.cnf and rebooted the DSS V6 are you able see all the shares and targets?

Unfortunately not, that's my problem. I didn't type in my license key I just left it in "demo mode" could that be my problem ?

Key is not the issue, try to go to the NAS Resources and click on the Specify path to add your share and see if it comes available and for the Targets create a new one and see if you can access it.
