    Question

What is the purpose of System Volume? What kind of Volume Group, should I mark as System Volume, mean data volume group or create a separate small volume group for System Volume?

I have a LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 8208ELP/8208ELP. at the moment when I run open-e it doesnt show my volume. do I need to run H/W raid first through the LSI bios? or should I be able to see my volume through the GUI?

Was this volume created by DSS originally ?

Yes, when I go into my LSI logic megaRAID controller I can see my 4 2TB drives. they were made a RAID0 array, virtual disk 0. the system BIOS sees my Seagate 250GB drive on the built-in SATA controller which I'm using to hold open-e.

The Open-e software should be able to see the 7.6TB RAID0 array on the LSI Logic MegaRAID controller, no? It can’t. Not on any of the three systems I am currently using open-e on.

Can you provide me with the system logs from the DSS?
Perhaps upload them someplace, and send me the link in Private message.

The reason is, I want to check the drivers being loaded.
This particular SAS card doesnt have core support for our flavor of Linux.
Although, I do have a build I want you to try with some new drivers from LSI, to see if it helps.
    Contact me via PM.
