Default Label new Tape is not working

    Greetings!

I am testing the backup capabilities of DSS (using a VMware ESXi 4.1u1 VM) by following the direction from "Setting up data redundancy on DSS V6 within a system". I have 2 virtual disks, one for the data, one for the backup (no HW/SW RAID, just volumes). When I get to the section on labeling tapes, I select the VirtualTapesGroup, enter a name, set a limit (have tried with and without a limit) and click apply. It thinks for a few minutes, then comes back. No error or anything, just refreshes the information and lists no tapes... as if I hadn't done anything.

I followed the instruction in this KB article to refresh the backup DB, but that didn't help.

    Any ideas?

After trying again, I noticed that the message displayed after attempting to create a new backup database is "New backup database created on selected share.", while the message displayed in the "critical_errors.log" file is "10:59:25 22-04-11 warning Creating backup database failed."

make sure you delete the Logical volume to re-create the database, just removing the share isnt enough.

    Thanks for the reply

I tried deleting the share & LV, created a seperate (new) LV and even tried putting the DB on a regular share. None have worked so far. I still get the error in critical_errors.log and no tapes can be labeled.
