Thread: Virtual Nic in same Network

Default Virtual Nic in same Network

I am in the process of trying to document out how my DSS systems will be setup with iSCSI failover, connected to two XenServers. Currently my DSS has a 10Gig CX4 connection to our switch, and our XenServers also have 10Gig CX4 to the switch. All of these interfaces are part of our SAN network which is 10.92.10.0 255.255.255.0. One of the steps for setting up failover is to create a virtual IP which you use as the iSCSI target, it indicates that this IP address must be in a different network than the physical address. My questions, is there way to keep it in the same network, without messing things up? I do not want to have to change the XenServer IP address, as we have other storage available to them on the 10.92.10.0 network.

    Thanks

We do recommend to have the VIP on a separate network but it is NOT restricted so you can do it without a penalty for the setup and config.
    All the best,
