    Default FC Volume Initialization Speed

I'm initializing a RAID0 volume comprised of 8 RAID5 disk groups with 6 disk each. The initialization at fast speed with 4K block size took almost 3 hours. I measured the speed at roughly 200MB p/s which was very slow.
We are using a modern LSI SAS2 controller, but I'm curious, are there any restrictions in the latest software releases that prevent volume initialization from using up all the controller bandwidth?

It will use allot of resources - try to use Slow when doing it.

Well that's my point. I want it to go as fast as possible. But so far, the speed I'm getting is 200Mb p/s which is nothing considering my overall configuration..
I'm trying to gauge if I can use the initialization speed as a true test of my disks's real bandwidth..

Your to fast going to have a webinar next week about this - in the mean time hit me with an email so I can give you a small update so you can test the true disk speeds for the read and writes. Send email to pre-sales@open-e.com
    All the best,
