Thread: MegaRAID tool causes additional Load?

Default MegaRAID tool causes additional Load?

    Hello,

I've noticed that when ever I connect to megaraid storage manager with my pc to check on things like patrol reads and consistency checks, rebuilds etc. It causes an increase in load on the DSS.

The increased load remains high until I've done a restart of the SAN, does some sort of service start when I connect to the raid card? Is there a way I can stop this or some how reduce the load that is being put on my SAN?

Here's a graph showing the load, I'm sure you'll be able to tell when I last connected to the megaraid storage manager.

    Thanks for your help,
    Jonathon

If you have an old firmware for your megaraid, then please update it.
also what is the build of your megaraid storage manager that you are running now? also what is the DSS build? sure always it is recommended to update to the latest if you are running an old builds.

I'm on the latest version of DSSv6, I've just flashed the raid card firmware. So I'll post back my findings after the next reboot.

It's a production machine so might be a while...
