Thread: NFS failure

    Default NFS failure

    Hi,

We are currently using the trial version of DSS V6 and we are evaluating purchase of the full version. We current have some data on an NFS share. This data became unavailable and no errors were displayed, this was resolved by disabling and re-enabling NFS.

How do I go about troubleshooting this issue? As no errors were displayed this is proving to be difficult. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Chris

Currently, what you did by disable and renable is correct.
we are working on more mechanisms to auto-restart, and/or check the service. But adding so many monitors can be resource intensive, so it is under consideration for now.
This has been added to the queue for requests.

    Thankyou for your response.

Unfortunately this may be a deal breaker for us. This NFS failure in our production environment would be a huge issue. The lack of ability to troubleshoot this issue due to lack of logs and the requirement for manual disabling and re-enabling of the service will be extremely problematic.

    Thanks
    Chris

If it fails, it is logged in the dmesg log, and this can be accessed from the DSS webgui.

However, it is unusual this would fail on a regular basis. If it does, I suspect other problems that can also be troubleshooted with support engineers.
