Default AppleTalk Prob with OS X 10.7

    Hello,

Apple released OS X Lion (10.7) today. It seems they dropped a lot of old stuff, including old AFP versions.

I can no longer access my DSS V6 server via AFP from my 10.7 Macs. AFP is necessary, SMB doesn't show correct file names, or can't use files >4GB. We only have AFP running an no Windows machines.

Is there a workaround or will there be an update shortly ?

    thx

    EDIT:

It seems it only affects logins with username and password. Mounting an AFP Volume as guest works.

Since we are not in the apple development loop, we dont have this OS to test with. I suspect it will be sometime before we do.
Maybe you could tell us what has changed in AFP on the new versions....

AFP? For what...I always thought since Mac OS X AppleTalk is so what deprecated...why not NFS? Even SMB/CIFS is some kind of better then AFP in my understanding of the protocol

    Hello,

AFP is convenient, the shares simply show up in the Gui.
SMB corrupts longer Mac file names, so I can't use it.

After searching the web, other Linux based NAS solutions have the same problems (i.e. QNap). Apple dropped "DHCAST128" and uses a newer version.

There is a trick with works by enabling the old version in OS X 10.7, but it has to be done in the terminal on every Mac running 10.7. Not user friendly enough for us.

Maybe open-e will use the newer AFP protocol in the next version.

    thx

    Default It's a Netatalk problem: DHCAST128 versus DHX2 !

    Hello,

exact the same problem here. It's the authentification!

Apple has dropped the DHCAST128 support and uses DHX2 only.

    @ Open-E Team:
PLEASE could you update the Netatalk version you are using, OR
activate DHX2 (I read some companies are simply disabling it) asap.

    THANKS and kind regards,
    Bernhard

You can send us a Presales email, so we can send you a small update called :
    0836-DSS_V6_up65-added_DHX2_UAM

That should fix this issue, also this small update should be added into upcoming DSS release.

Does this fix only enable DHX2?
Or will "all extended AFP" features work for using also Time Machine?
Is the newest version netatalk used?
