Thread: Clear cached memory?

    Default Clear cached memory?

    Hello,

Is there a way to clear the cached memory on my Open-E server (Linux based)? Viewing the memory statistics I can see "mem cached" rises slowly over time until the system runs out of free memory. Then the server locks up and requires a restart. Is there a way to clear this cached memory while the system is running that is safe or should I monitor the system and schedule reboots accordingly?

    Thanks!

Cached memory controled by the system kernel, you can enable/disable using the cache memory but that controlled by the system then.

Enabling the cache give you better performance. and from your note, it seems that you are running an old build of DSSv6, so if you don't have the latest build, please update.

Also when you reboot the system the cache will be freed up, the reason we dont release it back after used in a task is that if another new task request the cache it will be ready and available instead of asking for it so it is faster.
    All the best,
