We have a multi terabyte Nas that seems to have lost all the settings for Volume groups under the Configuration, volume manager, volume groups area. Some background first.
This unit is used for backing up various systems, and there are a number of shares created on multiple volume groups. This morning I noticed that one of our regular backups had failed and when I attempted to connect to the Open-e interface, there was no response. We have a KVM connected to the console and when we connected to the console, it appeared to be hung at the boot screen. We performed an "enforced microcode termination" and restarted the unit, causing it to restart, and appeared to start up fine.
However on connecting to the Open-e software, faound that all our volume groups ( except for VG00 ) are missing and most of the units are showing as "s/w Raid Part"
Is there a simple way of recovering the Volume Groups?
Cheers
Found that there was an updated version of the Open-e software.
version we had was Old Ver: 6.0up50.xxxx.4786
Installed New Ver: 6.0up8.xxxx.5626
This must have caused system to rescan for volume groups and found our old ones.
