Default Raid Level, Hot Spare and Failure

    Hi Everyone,

The following is my background (ordering hardware at the moment)

2 UNIT of SANs running Open-E with volume replication through a 10G inter connect link.

May I know what is the raid level would you configure?

    Should I add a hotspare?

In case of failure, example if a disk failed; is open-e capable of kicking in the failover?

    ----

I am planning not to have any hot spare and if any of the active open-e box has a degraded disk, I would like it to failover to its peer unit.

After which I would manually perform the replacement and rebuild of the disk.

    What do you think?

New version of the DSS V6 build 5626 will failover in the event there some IO errors, but make sure you setup the RAID controller with email setup to receive alerts with errors from the RAID set to be warned as well.
    All the best,

    Todd Maxwell
