Default Volume groups - No Units found

    Hi there,

I've downloaded the latest version of DSS (6.0up80.8101.5626 64bit), installed it on a 2GB volume created on a RAID 5 array (Dell PowerEdge 2950 III with a PERC 6/i Integrated RAID Controller), and configured the box accordingly.

The problem I'm experiencing is I cannot create a Volume Group as no units can be found. DSS identifies the RAID controller correctly (STATUS>Hardware), and detects the individual SAS drives (SETUP<Hardware Raid) as well as the logical disk no problem.

My understanding is the Lite version of DSS doesn't support hardware RAID which is perfectly acceptable. My version is currently a 60 day trial though - if all goes well I'm planning on upgrading the license to a full commercial version.

Does DSS 6.0 ship with driver support for the PERC 6/i (I'm assuming it does as my controller is recognised by DSS and it's relatively old)? what could be preventing DSS from detecting units?

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks for your time...

    Regards,
    Mike

When you created the 2GB volume did you make sure that it was a desperate 2GB volume from the RAID set and then make it the first boot order as well. You should be able to see your RAID array and if you are able to see the drives and controller to configure from the GUI in Setup > HW RAID then the DSS V6 is seeing the PERC 6. You can try to use a USB Flash stick to test with and create the RAID array from the DSS V6 GUI to test without the 2GB volume.
    All the best,
