Thread: Does adding a second network connection restart all?

Default Does adding a second network connection restart all?

My hardware for my DSS system has 4 NICs but I am currently only using 1. If I configure a second it told me that it would restart the network configuration. Will that cut the 1st NIC off of the network for a little bit as well? Don't want to cause a bunch of issues if I can avoid it.

Are you using the second NIC card as Bond with the first one?

Is the second NIC card have the same subnet as the first one ? (related to the same network)

Did you changed any tuning options or else for the first/second NIC card?

ok. Thanks. If it restarted the other one, I would have to shutdown my email server and probably my webserver along with a few other apps so it wouldn't corrupted the databases.

Just to let you and other knows, we already did a quick test, and we have made an SSH connection to DSS and create new bonding. The connection was not dropped so it should not impact other interfaces.
