Thread: Mirror a Volume

    Default Mirror a Volume

What is the best way to mirror a volume to two open-e iSCSIs enterprise units? We are planning on getting two units and having a 500Gb volume on a connected client. However we want it to be mirrored between the two units for redundancy?

You can achieve this effect with our Open-E iSCSI Servers. You create a target on both of your hard drives using a hardware iSCSI initiator which creates a software mirror over 2 iSCSI targets.

Has this soft mirroring over iSCSI been tested?

Looks dangerous to me, any break in networking (even short) would trigger degraded raid, and the whole raid would have to rebuild...

Obviously some responsibility is necessary on the engineers end to reduce a single point of failure in path and flow. Any break on any RAID is dangerous....

Looks like he asked this question in June... have not heard back from him since. Must be working. You are more then welcome to provide your insight by testing with different OS's - and let the group know what your results where. This could be helpful to you as well.
    All the best,
