Thread: Converting a non HA ISCSI Volume to a HA Volume in stages ?

Question Converting a non HA ISCSI Volume to a HA Volume in stages ?

    Hi there

I have a quick question and am wondering if any one knows if this is possible.

We are moving away from a starwinds HA setup to a open-e HA setup

I wish to use the existing hardware that I already have.

So I am wanting to take down the SAN in stages and migrate over to open E.

Is it possible to create a volume that is non HA and then once all my data is migrated introduce a second SAN and make the volume HA ?

    It shouldn't be a problem.
It doesn't meter what kind of logical volume you will create (NAS, iSCSI or FC), you are always able to add the "use volume replication" to such a logical volume. You don't have to reboot the DSS V6. The volume will be inaccessible only for a minimal period of time (<1min) when the options is being added to the logical volume. After it's added you can create a corresponding logical volume on the other node and setup the volume replication task any time you want.
