I have already tried this but still the same problem ? My biggest worry is thet I can not get the NFS service to start ? Am I right in thinking that I can simply use a DHCP router and use the same address 192.168.0.1 for DHCP and DNS ?
There could be something wrong with the DSS and you might want to try running the Repair Filesystem from the Extended tools then reboot. If you can ping and resolve the name from the DSS in the Console Tools then your DNS is working properly.
I have ran the repair from the extended tools and rebooted. I have then used the console ping command and can ping the ip address of the dss box and pinged successfully by entering its name "dss" ? I have also unchecked and rechecked the NFS option still the service is not running ??
Finally I got it to work, not sure if there is some kind of bug in the software but here's what I did. Removed the NFS option and checked the status to make sure the screens were been refreshed and yes the status reported OFF and INACTIVE. Then I removed and deleted all the shares I had created and then rebooted the DSS server. Then before creating any new shares I enabled the NFS option and checked the status, and yes the service was running. I then created new share called "nfs" enabled NFS option checked status again still running, then from my ESX box connected through to the newly created nfs share and I can see it. Hopefully this may help others, frustrating when you have done things correctly but they for some unexplained reason don't work.
