This product was EOL in 2007.
I suspect the hardware is not completely compatible at this point.
You should update the OS.

Try to download DSSV6 that you can find at : http://www.open-e.com/download/open-...e-software-v6/
or V7 on a USB flash memory, and then run your system with it, and that should help you to get a better performance.
