Thread: AFP not authenticating, SMB does

Default AFP not authenticating, SMB does

I've set up the trial version of DSS 7 and have set up several test shares. I am using a Windows 2008R2 domain controller for authentication, and I am able to connect to the shares from both PCs and Macs via SMB, but when I try and connect via AFP the Macs just keep popping the authentication window back up over and over. If I set it to allow guest access, I am able to successfully connect as a guest, so it is clearly my tie in to Active Directory that isn't working for AFP, but is for SMB.

    Ideas?

since you are using SMB and AFP, try un-checking "Hide special files and folders" in NAS Settings -> SMB settings

And if you are planning to use AppleTalk, then please note that using AppleTalk with one of following bonding modes: balance-rr, balance-xor or broadcast may cost system instability. Please disable bonding or select other bonding modes while using Appletalk.

I have exactly the same problem, but the "Hide special folders" hack does not work!
