Thread: DSS6 iSCSI reset

  1. #1

    Default DSS6 iSCSI reset

Need some input on the function of the iSCSI reset. I have LUNs/Targets created and attached to both Windows and VMware servers. I understand this will disconnect the hosts, but what do I need to ensure is in place so the host will reconnect. How long will connections be lost. The reason I'm thinking this needs to be completed, is that I have targets connected to hosts, that should not be. Not a HORRIBLE thing, as all the hosts are VMware, so no data corruption should occur, but I need to isolate these.

Thanks in advance for the input.

When doing a reset for iSCSI connections it is only a few seconds for both MS 2008 and VMware 5.0 and both will reconnect.

I have 2003 machines connected on the windows side, and ESXi 4.1 on the Vsphere side of the house. Same for these?

I dont think the MS initiator changed much so I would believe it would be the same. As for ESX 4.1 I am not sure but we are certified with 4.1 and resets would have been in the tests as well so I would think yes on that was well.
