Thread: Help troubleshooting slow network transfer

Default Help troubleshooting slow network transfer

Our main NAS has recently failed, as it couldn't boot anymore. After investigating, we discovered that the motherboard was faulty. The specs were as follows:

    - P4 540 (3.2 GHz)
    - Supermicro P8SCT (http://www.supermicro.com/products/m...7221/p8sct.cfm)
    - 2x1 GB PC5300
    - Onboard Broadcom BCM5721 GBE LAN
    - 9550SXU-8LP PCI-X SATA RAID controller (http://www.3ware.com/support/UserDoc...stallGuide.pdf)
    - 8x2 TB, software RAID5

The system has run perfectly until its death.

Afterwards, the mobo/CPU/RAM combo was swapped with the following:
    - Asus A7M266-D (http://www.tekwind.co.jp/backup_uc/s...a7m266_d_e.pdf)
    - Dual Athlon MP 2000+
    - 2x512 MB PC3200
    - PCI Realtek 8169 GBE LAN

    The remaining components haven't changed.

The system booted up, took some time to recognize the new hardware I guess, then started working just like it used to do before, but the network transfer speed dropped to a mere 12-18 MB/s. This is really bad as we need to backup the whole 13 TB of data in it, and that will take forever this way. The only thing I can think of right now is that the NAS-XSR we're running is still configured to boot the system as single CPU, which it isn't anymore, but this seems totally unrelated to me.

Any help would be really appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

This product was EOL in 2007.
I suspect the hardware is not completely compatible at this point.
    You should update the OS.

Try to download DSSV6 that you can find at : http://www.open-e.com/download/open-...e-software-v6/
or V7 on a USB flash memory, and then run your system with it, and that should help you to get a better performance.

But please read the following KB first:

    And
