Thread: Windows Shares take a long time to activate after a reboot

Question Windows Shares take a long time to activate after a reboot

We have a couple Windows shares setup with A/D ACLs. Everything works great. We did a maintenance project over this past weekend and rebooted everything. Rebooted DCs first, then Open-e, then the app servers.

The app servers took several hours before all the windows shares were accessible. But if I pull up the shares from Windows Explorer it seems to force the connection and speeds things up.

I've seen this before when Open-e reboots. Magically after 4 to 6 hours everything works fine. I've tried rebooting the app servers but that doesn't seem to fix it.

    Any thoughts?

may be best to reboot the DSS servers last, so the app servers see a fresh broadcast.

Ok, I can try that. Any way to force that broadcast to happen more regularly?

disable/enable SMB on the share should do it.
