    Default Tagged VLAN support DSSV7

Since nobody replied to the old thread

    http://forum.open-e.com/showthread.php?29-vlan-support

we open a new thread here regarding tagged VLAN support for DSSV7.

The old thread states this to be available soon in 2011, nothing new yet ?

    Regards,

We decided to let the switches provide this function as we are focusing on our failover functions and newer products.

    Hi Todd,

    oooops, that's bad news.
The switches can do VLAN, but only untagged, if the attached device does not support tagging.
And untagged VLAN does not support QOS, which would be highly recommended for ISCSI traffic.
So no plans to support tagging in DSS will make us have to think about a different storage solution
    in our new environment.
BTW, it should not be difficult to implement this, it's just a simple NIC configuration parameter
    for the supported NICs drivers.

    regards
    Ralph

    Hi Ralph,

Yes you are correct that it is not difficult to implement but where the complexity comes into play here is the work in the GUI and the QA team testing and more.

I forgot to mention that we are still looking to get this in one of our products it is just that we are trying to fit it in our road map.

    Thanks Todd !

Would not be neccessary to put it into GUI,
console configuration would be fair enough ...

    Ragards,
    Ralph
