Thread: No System Volume Found

    Default No System Volume Found

    Hi,

We appear to have lost one of the 6 drives in our array. The 3Com controller appears to have rebuilt successfully (though it still reports the array as degraded) but the Open-E console reports 'No system volume found'.

We've tried re-selecting the default volume group but there is only 1 vg (vg00) and that is already selected. We've also tried restoring the configuration to no effect, however all 3 of the available backups are from AFTER we lost the drive?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can recover the unit?

    Regards,

    Richard

bring the raid out of a degraded state and run a consistency check to be sure there are no other issue with the raid.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

The array has 6 drive, configured as a mirrored stripe set (raid 10). What is the best way to bring the raid out of the degraded state? Do we have to replace the dead drive or can we do that through the controller?

    Regards,

    Richard

From the controller look for the bad drive then mark it to be removed then remove the drive and replace with new drive to be the replacement. The controller should either start the rebuild process if not refer to the manual of the controller.
    All the best,
