Thread: "No mediums found" when I try to install DSS V7

Question "No mediums found" when I try to install DSS V7

    Hi,

There's a problem when I trying to install DSS v7 on a Dell R710 server. After I click agree conditions, there's an error message show me "No mediums found", and leave me 2 options "Reboot" and "Shutdown".

Is that mean no HD found on my server? What should I do next?

    hardware list:

    Dell Prec 6/i RAID controller
6*15K SAS HD(5HD RAID 5 configed, 1 global hot spare)

    Thank you so much!!

    Hi admin,

I've tried install latest version, but it doesn't work.

But I found my server could find hard drive when I try to install DSS V6, Could I install DSS V6 first, and then update to V7? I'm not sure if my hard drive works after upgrade...

    Any suggestion?

The latest version could be used on my R720 server, the main differents between R710 and R720 is RAID controller. R710 is Prec6/i, and R720 is H710. Is that mean DSS v7 does not support Prec 6/i early version(firmware 6.3.3)?

1 tip here: Prec6/i is producted by LSI, is there any special update?

What is your boot media? Are you installing on a single SSD or maybe a SATA DOM? Does the system boot with a Flash Stick? With the latest release that was provided to you it does have the latest LSI drivers that Dell OEMs.
    All the best,
