Thread: DSS7 iSCSI HA Disk and Target config

Default DSS7 iSCSI HA Disk and Target config

I am setting up my first Active/Active HA configuration. I am using the guide found here.

Are there additional resources that I can read up on to understand the configuration of iSCSI HA better?

My understanding of iSCSI is that performance improves with the number of iSCSI targets. So traditionally I've created multiple smaller discs/volumes/targets. I'm wondering if this applies to DSS7 in an HA configuration and how to configure my disks and targets moving forward.

We are using 40Gb Infiniband for the targets so it is not anticipated that bandwidth will be an issue.

    Thanks,

    Todd

You can find a lot of extra information in our webinars:

iSCSI target has limited IO operations queue. Therefore in some scenarios having 1 volume per target instead of 10 can give more performance. In HA cluster during the failover all configuration of one node has to be exported and imported on other server, so switching time depends on number of volumes (switching volume replication) and targets (exporting configuration), so its also a good idea to keep it in reasonable amounts suitable for your hardware. Best to test switching time with some active IO test before going into production.
