Was the Hard disk with a RAID set or RAID 5? If so then this should not have been a problem as RAID 5 will allow 1 failed drive. If it was a single drive RIAD 0 then this would be a problem and you probably had to recreate the Volume Group (which will reformat) if so your data would be lost and you will have to restore your data from backup. Do you have a backup to restore your files? CTRL + ALT + X ""Extended tools"" try with option 10 it may work to restore your volume from last known good state - but not sure if this will help.
