Thread: Problems creating new logical volumes

Exclamation Problems creating new logical volumes

    Hi,

I have your DSS software installed, with two raid controllers (8 x 500GB disks each), so i have created two big volume groups with 2.793GB each.

When I start creating logical volumes, no matter the size i choose, i can't allocate more volumes when there is 1.538GB free....

    That means 12 x 100GB volumes, or 5 x 250GB volumes....

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    Sebas.

What model is the RAID controllers and the version of DSS you are running. Try to reboot the system. Is this with a NAS or iSCSI Logical Volume. Are there any errors from the GUI? You can try a "File system repair" in Extended tools "CTRL + ALT + X" menu from Console screen. If this does not help we may need to have you send the log file to support - go to Status > Hardware > Log then click on the download button and send the log file.

    It's a Intel SRCS28X, and the version is: 1.23.DB00000000.2763

After creating one iSCSI volume (with initialize checkbox), it doesn't answer to http requests (GUI unavailable), and if i try to ssh it, it closes the connection after 2 seconds or so.

Any chance to update to 1.32 (use link below to access the ISO update), I am guessing there is no data on this system as with the Logical Volume issue. Download the 1.32 ISO image on to a CD-ROM then boot the system with CD. Also are you using Putty for the SSH connection (make sure to set it for VT100+). In 1.32 the initialization is automatic and you don't have to apply this. I suspect that this is what could be causing the problems.
