Is there any specific date that you can think of?

We have to make a decision very soon, because without the backup we can not use
the DSS at the full power.

P.S. NDMP backup can also be a solution, although it seems that the NDMP backup is slower than the "normal" backup.

Not sure as there is a lic. issue - we are trying to talk to them about this. They may not move as fast as us. We are talking about other options, we just need more time. So sorry for the delay

Actual Legato update is still in beta state and dedicated for specified
    clients only.

You can still backup the SMB shares without Legato client for DSS and NAS-R3.

    1. On DSS in "Config->NAS Resources->Users" add user "legato",
    2. Chose "legato" user from list and add shares to access list,
    3. In function "Config->Nas settings->SMB settings" add user "legato" to
    superusers lists,
    4. Please map DSS shares as Network Drive on your Windows with Legato Server
and client installed using "legato" user for authenticate,
    5. From Menu Start->Programs->Legato NetWorker run "Networker User" program,
    6. Now choose Operation->Backup from NetWorker menu and data from mapped disk
    to backup.
    All the best,

Thank you for reply. We are going to use NFS backup
because our backup server is UNIX based. The Windows
ACLs will be lost I assume.
