    Default migration performance slow

    Hi all,

    i would like to ask a question about performance.
    The controller card has 3 ports but we got shipped just 1 cable so we was able to connect only 8 devices. It was

    proposed that the customer gets the box as soon as possible and the remaining disk will be added later on in the

    field.
    Initialy we created a raid6 unit u0 from the first six physical disk.It took cca 10 hours to complete the build.
    After the build was finished we started the migration of the 2 unassigned disks to check the time required for

    migration and that nothing gets wrong when the box is in production.

    The migration of (p6,p7) started on sunday, now is tuesday 04.12. and we have only some 60% migrated...
    It was a fresh install w/o data.
    btw. the customer wants to see the whole as one consecutive space (u0)

    Question is: what might we expect if get those 2 missing cables and connect the remaining 16 disks and migrate them

    to existing log.unit ?

    Ivan;

    First, 10 hours for building RAID is longer than normal. Especially you are using 3Ware new controller that should build RAID faster than the old ones. Also, 2 days for migration is also not right.
    Did you update your HDD's to the latest firmware? If everything upgraded I will recommend calling 3Ware and clarify with them.
    And if you got the 2 missing cables, it seems you are going to have the same long waiting time. So I will start checking and diagnose the problem

    Let me know what happened??
