Thread: active/active

  1. #1

    Default active/active

Are there any future plans to provide active/active targets for the iSCSI failover service? Im currently comparing Open-E vs Datacore and Starwind both of which support Active/Active targets.

    With regards to Active/Passive:
    - Can the passive node use different disks? Say I have 15K SAS on my active node, can i use 7200 SATA for the backup node?
    - Is there auto-failback?
    - Is there any interruption to I/O during the failover process (ie servers on say VMWARE freezing if the primary node goes down)

We do have plans in the future for A / A but no set date as we there is much work that has to be completed before this new function.

Yes you can have this configureation but please test as you need to make sure that there is good performance on the Passive system to offset any delays.

    - Is there auto-failback?

Yes - Please see the links below on how to set this functions.

As long as you do not set the LUNs to enable the Write Back function the VM's will continue to operate.
    All the best,
