Default Simple way to remote shutdown a system via script

We have a Open-E NAS-R3 server running in our computer center. Managing over HTTP is simple and good but we are missing a simple way to shutdown the server in a scripted way from remote.
We have a central server controlling the UPS. When power goes down it shuts down all our servers with a "shutdown -h now" command executed via SSH with public key auth (so no password is needed).

Is there a simple way to shutdown Open-E NAS-R3 like this? SSH is possible (we tried it), but it is not possible to send simple keystrokes like needed for a shutdown to the NAS console. And a password is also needed (no public key auth). Is there the possibility to send a shutdown via SNMP v3? If yes, please give me the OID and command using the normal linux snmp-* tools.
Or is it possible to trigger shutdown via curl/wget to a specific HTTP-URL?

The UPS features in OpenE cannot be used because the UPS is connected to another server that does not run APC software, so no remote access is possible to the UPS.

    Thanks, Uwe

    Hi thetaphi,

we have exactly the same problem with our HP UPS. We need real ssh access (hello Open-E ) to shutdown the Open-E iSCSI remotely with plink.

Another Point is that we have to monitor the RAID-Controller (Adaptec 3805 , we dont't have an IPMI-Card )). I think the only way would be the command-line-tool aacli. Therefore we need real ssh access, too.

    Thanks.
