Default on motherboard Raid, please don't use it: Why?

    Hi,

in your Quick Start guide you write not to use on board RAID.
What is the reason for this?

    Because it seems to work.
In the Hardware overview the RAID Controller "Intel Corporation 82801GR/GH (ICH7 Family) SATA RAID Controller (rev 01)" is shown.

Will it cause some problems, if I use it?

Because I tried hard to get an Adaptec RAID Controller here in Shanghai, but
in the digital mall they only came up with a "no name" one.
That's why I've choosen the ASUS MB with the Intel RAID.

Because I think a SW RAID is less safe.

    What do you recommend? Thanks

    Default

We don't support onboard RAID controllers as this is very difficult to support all the different types without having them in our testing labs. If it works then you are ok to use it. In most cases if it does not then disable the RAID and use the Software RAID.
    All the best,

    Todd Maxwell
