Question How to remote update to Open-E DSS update ver. 5.00 up60 build 3511

    Hi

I tried to update to Open-E DSS update ver. 5.00 up60 build 3511.
Updating using the GUI does not work, after uploading the .tgz file it sais: unknown file format.

The previous updates are in .iso format, this one is a zipped tarball.
In the release notes the first line sais:
This software must be installed on a USB-stick first.

I hope I dont have book a flight to the city with the datacenter our servers are located in to perform this update

Please read the release notes as it clearly states that this upgrade is very different from the past versions and does not update via the GUI.
    All the best,

what is the recommended way to do this update on a iSCSI auto-fail-over cluster?

This topic was discussed in the thread below. Overall Failover to the Secondary then update the Primary.

Question CD instead of USB stick?

Is it possible to copy/burn the files to a CD and boot from CD instead of USB stick?

Thats what I want to know too.. as I do not have physical access to our open-E servers.

Using IPMI I could mount an iso image I built before.. Is this possible?

You have to format the media as a FAT or FAT32 so the CD wont be an option.
