    Default Overall storage capacity limit

Sorry for this dumb question, but I can't find any answer on the site.

We have bought the storage server with the Open-E pre-installed and I want to know - is the 16TB limitation is physical or not?

If we install 20x1TB disks in 5 Raid5 - we will only have 15TB of storage. Shall we need to buy an additional licenses?

    Hello -

The 16TB license gives you the full 16TB of usable space, not RAW. If you need any more than that, you can always add additional licenses and expand your space according to your needs.

64TB , you're limited to a 16TB volume with a 32 bit system and 64TB volume with a 64 bit processor and booting kernel, todd correct me if i'm wrong

    Hi Keven,

you are correct about the 32bit mode allowing you to create a max. of 16TB per Logical Volume. Though you can create many 16TB Logical Volumes with the additional License Key's.

With 64bit mode you can create Logical Volumes as greater then 16TB and there is no limit as to the size. The largest Logical Volume recorded is 84TB (240+drives using SAN storage system w/Qlogic HBA's).
    All the best,
