Thread: Offline data archiving

    Default Offline data archiving

Does anyone know if there's a way to use Open-E to create an offline data archiving solution. Basically like tape archiving, but with hard drives - a way to easily unmount a drive or set of drives, put them in the closet, and replace them with a fresh set. This seems like it might have advantages over tape-based archiving because the offline drives could potentially be mounted easily and quickly without specialized hardware. And with the capacity of hard drives increasing so quickly, it might become even more cost effective than tape. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Hey benbfly,

I did this using regular SATA drive. You need to configure them as Dynamic disks then run a backup task on them. After that, unmount, save and use
