    Default Volume Resplication

    Hi,

    I've got 2 Open-E DSS (latest Version: 5.0.DB46000000.3084) storages (6TB capacity)with QLogic Corp. ISP2422-based 4Gb Fibre Channel to PCI-X HBA (rev 02) Cards and a Brocade 200E Switch which they are connected to. vmalloc is set to 384. I've set up the 2 FC Volumes on each DSS with 3GB capacity and Volume Replication enabled. I want to replicate the volume #1 on the 1st DSS to volume #2 on the 2nd DSS and the the volume #1 on the 2nd DSS to volume #2 on the 1st DSS so if one storage goes down the data is secure. I've set up the replication task and the correct replication modes on both DSS. If i push the start button nothing happens. the task log says: "unknown error 20"
    Can anyone give me more information on this?

    What is your connection speed ?

    On server 1 volume 1 is source while volume 2 is dest.
    on server 2 volume 1 is source while volume 2 is dest.

    volume size needs to be exactly the same size for each matching source and destination volume
    you will need to create a seperate task on each server

    The volumes are FC volumes and connected to a Brocade 4GBit\s switch.
    The replication is configured as you described. The Volumes have exactly the same size (3.2 TB each) The tasks have been created on each server.

    Here with us the same problem.

    Our conf. is about exactly the same as "tjestr" and for some reason volume replication fails with "unknown error: 20".

    Model: Data Storage Server
    Version: 5.0.DB44000000.3025
    Release date: 2008-02-27

    How does the replication work? If having FC volumes does it replicate over FC or over IP? (Because i have to add the IP-adress of the other DSS) Is the replication synchronous? Why is it not possible to edit the bandwidth for volume replication tasks? If setting up the replication with 30 Mbit the initial replication takes 3 days... Why not beeing able to set it up with maximum bandwith and then lower it.

    I was told before the recommended bandwidth setting is 40 with a 1GE card. Volume replication is synchronous and takes place over IP
