    Default Virtual Iron

Anyone else using VI. It works great. I just posted this over at the VI forum and hopefully people will check out open-e. The products work well together.

I built an 8 TB SAN with 5.5 TB of usable storage, for less than $7,000.00. I went a little overboard with the RAM or I could have built the system for around $6,000.00. Is anyone else using this type of solution with an Open-e chip? This is my second SAN and I wanted one to store clones of my images and data. The box works so well that I moved a few non mission critical servers to it and I do not notice any performance difference between this homemade SATA SAN and my other warranted vendor SAS SAN. Both SANs are connected with redundant 4 GB FC HBA's to redundant Brocade FC switches. Reply and list your configuration. Parts List: Open-e DSS 8 TB SuperMicro 6025B-TR Motherboard 2 X Intel Xeon Woodcrest 3.0GHz 4MB L2 Cache LGA 771 QLogic QLE2462 Dual Port 4 GB FC HBA 3Ware 9650SE Raid controller 16 X 2G Crucial Memory 8 X Hitachi 7200 RPM hard Drives

I only have one Open-e SAN. Both SAN's are connected to all my Virtual Iron Nodes.
