Thread: NFS File Lock

  1. #1

    Default NFS File Lock

    Hi,

Like to check whether the NFS version running on the latest R3 is NFSv4?
Does NAS-R3 support file lock at all?

We encountered the "unable to lock file" error when trying to access the NFS share from a Suse Linux 10 using NFS client.

    Regards

NFS File Locking was fixed in release 5_0_up46_build_3088.
We only support NFS ver. 2 & 3.

Do you have "Insecure locks" enabled or disabled?
    All the best,

    Todd Maxwell

Sorry to jump in on this thread - we're running DSS (currently 5.0.DB47000000.3216), but I assume the NFS code is either the same or at least from the same code base.

We see this problem, too. We're using openSuSE 11.0 clients, both Mozilla Firefox 3.0 (using SQLite DBs with file locking) and Eclipse won't work on NFS-based home directories mounted from the DSS NFS server.

We see no different behaviour even if I set the "insecure locks" flag for the shares.

    Regards,
    Jens

Can you give us a detailed description, as well as the string you are using?
    Thanks!

    SJ,

to avoid duplicate postings I'll answer your questions in the similar thread over at the DSS forum (http://forum.open-e.com/showthread.php?p=4092) as soon as I'm back in the office (Friday).
